3 Games, 3 wins - ya can't complain at that!!

Wednesday 17th May 2006

Well, another weekend goes by and another good one for the club with both Saturday sides and the Sunday side all notching up excellent wins.

For the 1sts, another game to remember for Captain Marvel Robbie whose 2nd 5 wicket haul of the season in only 3 games not only took him past his tally of wickets for the whole of last season but also kept opponents Winterton to 184. Not finished there, Rob then anchored the side to victory with an unbeaten 70 ably aided and abbetted by Moots, in his 1st innings of the season and Krusty whose unbeaten 27 contained some of his usual favourite shots - slip drives, outside edges, inside edges, uppercuts and every now and then, a proper cricketing shot!!!.

For the 2nds, there was a much more comfortable 9 wicket win against Hales Colts. Bowling 1st, Jez took the honours with his 1st 5 wicket haul for the club, a real testament to his improvement over the last couple of seasons with the other wickets being shared around. There was even the chance for the skipper to take his 1st League wicket since 1996 - a real collectors item if ever there was one. Chasing a mere 76, skipper Jamie took the opportunity to mix around with the batting order; a move that paid real dividends with Big Tim's 1st real score of the season and a new career best for Arms. It was good to see Gary score the winning runs and with an excellent collective team spirit throughout, the season has started extremely well for the 2nds.

Sunday saw Moots take the reins for his 1st game as Sunday skipper as the side squeaked home by a mere 8 runs against Worstead in the cup. Batting 1st, the responsibility obviously suited the skipper as his 84, including several massive 6's, anchored the side to a respectable 175-8.

Defending, despite a nightmare over from Coops in his 1st game of the season, top bowling from Chunky, Rob and Shaggy at the death saw the side sneak home. Krusty described the game as "Cardiac Cricket" and after the number of close finishes already this season, you'd be hard pushed to disagree. One things for sure; it's never dull watching us at the moment!!
