Well, the season has finally started and got underway with a nail biting finish as Reepham and Salle won by 1 wicket off the last ball of the game.
Batting first, Hardingham scored a competitive 207-6 off their allotted overs on a pitch unsurprisingly offering some up and down bounce. Stars of the innings were ex skipper Rob and Hearno, who both retired after some quality batting with Rob notching up the 1st 50 of the season with useful contributions coming from Krusty, who managed to avoid his usual early season double bounce dismissal, Coffee and Tim.
Bowling wise, Edgey put his showing at Thursday nets well behind him with an exemplary opening spell with tidy spells from both Rob and Ernie. Bowling honours however go to Statto, with a career best 4-19 and a classic "Monty" celebration. The game went down to the wire - with 2 scrambled leg byes off the last ball winning it for the winners.
I know its a cliche but cricket really was the winner. The game was played in an excellent spirit, everybody was involved and here's looking forward to more exciting games throughout the season. Thanks too for all who turned up and watched/supported/threw Edgey's jumper into a tree - it's always good to see people at the ground. Here's looking forward to the start of the League season next weekend.
