Thursday 19th June 2008
Almost a mirror image of last summer in so far that this June is proving difficult to complete any game of cricket longer than 20-20. The latest weekend saw the 2nds game washed out at half time with Brisley having scored a competitive 174-3 although aided by the quirks in the scoring system, the 2nds found themselves moving back up a spot to 2nd in the table.
For the 1sts, a competitive defeat away to Topcroft A. Batting 1st, there were runs for Barney and Cooky and a welcome return to form for Robbie whose season so far has been somewhat of a nightmare. Defending 193, there was another excellent spell from Sparksey and wickets for Oli and Andy with the game going right down to the last over. A big game looms this weekend for the 1sts at home to Halvergate.
The real success of the last couple of weeks has been the midweek side who in the Bernard Matthews Cup have notched up a couple of formidable scalps in the guise of Fakenham and Mattishall. Against the former, a 20 odd run win with the latter being an even more convincing 10 wicket win with Mike and Barney knocking off the required 124.
Important League games for both sides this weekend - lets hope the much fabled summer actually deigns to make an appearance!
